KIU’s Prof Janice Busingye Elected on the RENU Board

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration (DVC F&A) of Kampala International University (KIU), Assoc Prof. Janice Busingye was elected into the Board of the Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU) on Thursday, 27 August 2020.

Prof. Busingye was among the three new directors voted to replace the outgoing members out of the 10-member Board of Directors of the not-for-profit National Research and Education Network (NREN), and she is bringing onboard, her 19 years rich experience of university teaching and research, of which 8 years are inclusive of top University administration.

Her capacity cuts across Nonprofit Organizations, Data Analysis, Strategic Planning, Adult Education, and Community Development. She holds a Masters Degree and a Ph.D. in Adult and Continuing Education and Policy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She was also trained at Makarere University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Adult and Community Education.

Prof Busingye is a prominent member of the winning Management Team at KIU that worked to ensure that the institution emerged as the No 1 private University in East Africa, according to the recent Webometric World Ranking of Universities.

The mission of RENU lies in the facilitation of collaboration among Uganda’s research and education institutions for knowledge creation, sharing and utilization, through the provision of advanced networking and other advanced technical services. After 11 years of recognition by the Ugandan Government, the RENU networks has successfully connected over 200 sites, the latest being the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI) – Masindi, Uganda. The Current Vice-Chancellor of KIU, Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, was among the earliest members of RENU in its inception years.

Kampala International University (KIU) is a private, not-for-profit institution based in Uganda. It was established in 2001 and assumed chattered status in 2009.
