The 86 Group, an investment banking and business brokerage firm based in Dallas, Texas, recently announced that B. Lane Carrick has joined the firm as Managing Director. Plano, TX – March 30, 2021 – In an exclusive update, The 86 Group announced that B. Lane Carrick, M.Sc., CFP™, joined the investment banking and business brokerage firm as Managing Director. The 86 Group said that Lane was an ideal addition to their firm because of his extensive financial services experience. He began his career as a stockbroker with a New York Stock Exchange member firm in 1980 and founded one of the first “fee only” private wealth management and trust companies in the Southern United States in 1990. Carrick served as Chairman and CEO of Sovereign Wealth Management, a wealth management and multi-family office, with subsidiary companies including Sovereign Hedge Fund Management, Sovereign Alternative Investment Management, and Sovereign Private Equity Partners. Lane sold these businesses to United Capital Financial Partners – now part of Goldman Sachs – in 2010.  

 

The 86 Group noted that Lane was a founding shareholder and director of several banks in West Tennessee. Most recently he served as the founding shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Triumph Bancshares and Triumph Bank. Carrick received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis and earned his Master of Science Degree in Banking & Financial Services from Boston University. He currently serves as an instructor at the Business Leadership Center of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. His lectures on mergers and acquisitions and alternative investments to MBA candidates have earned him three Teaching Excellence Awards. Lane is a member of the Advisory Board of Catapult Partners, a Dallas-based advisory firm dedicated to fueling the growth of entrepreneurs and their companies.

Lane Carrick will focus on advising clients of The 86 Group on navigating the best path to optimize the value of their business, support and manage the firm’s brokers and financial analysts, and conduct the seminar series offered to business owners on a monthly basis.
