Outpatient Rehab Treatment is a Prime Component of Battling Addictions

In most cases, inpatient addiction rehab treatment for addiction is necessary as there are few individuals that can recover from addiction outside a treatment facility.  Outpatient rehab treatment generally follows inpatient and may take place at a sober living facility before returning to the home territory of a patient. This does not have to be the only scenario however, and outpatient rehab treatment can be scheduled according to home life, and work needs, and not entail a group home stay.

Some of the considerations are the intensity of the addiction, the duration of the addiction, the support system an addict has within their home atmosphere, and most of all an addict’s commitment to treatment.  Outpatient rehab treatment does depend upon the individual’s commitment to overcoming the addiction.  It is a more self-generated course.  Flexibility in scheduling counselling is a big plus with outpatient rehab treatment, however, and many Canadians are now choosing this option of returning home immediately. A slow adjustment to real life and the outside world is still stressed even when not using a sober living facility as a stepping-stone to normalcy. Staying clean and sober is easier with the two-step approach.

The time spent in outpatient, however, is generally determined by the type, intensity, and duration of addiction.  Most individuals associate only drugs and alcohol with an addiction problem, but there are many types of addictions.  There are of course, serious gambling addictions, food addictions, gaming addictions, social media addictions, pornography addictions, and yes, even shopping addictions.  An assessment by a reputable addiction recovery center, such as Addiction Rehab, Toronto must be done first and foremost, and a care plan established.

The way to determine if a person has an addiction is to assess how much of an impact the addiction is having on daily functioning.  Anything that undermines the general processes of like, is considered an addiction, and should be addressed ASAP!  The longer an addiction goes on, the harder it is to recover from addiction.  Addictions of any type can cause job loss, loss of family, loss of friends, and a singular focus on only the addiction.  Financial difficulties are usually present in any type of addiction.

Partial hospitalization is also an option where part of each day is spent at a treatment center, and the other part of the day spent in the outside world.  If medical intervention is necessary for safety of withdrawal, then of course, onsite rehab is a genuine necessity and may entail a long stay within a facility. Costs also factor into the choices for outpatient rehab treatment as it can be more affordable for some recovering addicts to stay within a facility rather than face a long commute each day.

Only a good consultation with a certified and experienced Addictions Specialist at Addiction Rehab, Toronto, can lead any patient in the right direction.  Type of treatment, length, and care plan must be developed specifically for each patient.
