2021 UESTC-Webster iMBA Alumni Reunion &Spring Forum successfully held
The Ritz Carlton Chengdu has witnessed the grand opening of UESTC-Webster iMBA alumni reunion & spring forum 2021 of which the theme referred to all alumni with “One Heart—iMBA Dream Building•New Journey Exploring•Brilliant Future Creating” on April 10. More than a hundred alumni from all over the country gathered together to share the glory and pride.
Guests present at this event consisted of Li Huiyong, head of UESTC’s Department of Cooperation and Development and secretary-general of UESTC’s Alumni Associations, Li Lijuan, deputy head of UESTC’s Department of Cooperation and Development and deputy secretary-general of UESTC’s Alumni Associations, Tian Mi, deputy director of the Postgraduation Education Office of the Graduate School of UESTC, Ma Yongkai, dean of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC, Gong Yi, head of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC, Xiao Yangao, deputy dean of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC, Pan Yang, deputy head of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC, professor Fang Jiaming, associate professor Liang Yuan, iMBA director Liu Bo and deputy director Zhu Yi of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC, director Zhang Jiewei of China Partner Programs of Webster University, Yang Jing, Chengdu site manager of Webster University, Ling Ling, deputy director of Information Construction Office of UESTC’s Cooperation and Development Department, and Qing Lan from the Alumni Association Office of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC. The young scholar among the first batch of the Yangtze River Scholars accredited by the Ministry of Education as well as the winner of National Excellent Youth Fund, Professor Yang Jinqiang delivered a keynote speech themed with the uncertainty of COVID-19 epidemic, asset pricing and risk management. Furthermore, Mr. Xu Yamin, China’s chief representative of Internet of Things and Smart City at the World Economic Forum in Davos delivered speeches on the fourth industrial revolution’s action roadmap: building an innovative society.

First of all, Dean Ma Yongkai, on behalf of the school, gave a warm welcome to the iMBA alumni and shared them gratifying achievements the school has achieved in recent years in the discipline development, talents training and international education. At the same time, he spoke highly of alumni’s positive contribution to the development of UESTC, the school and iMBA program and expressed sincere wishes to all the alumni.
Speech by Ma Yongkai, Dean of the School of Management and Economics of UESTC
Dr. Richard Foristel, director of Webster University in China and Zhang Jiewei, director of China Partner Programs of Webster University, respectively delivered the video message and on-the-spot speeches, expecting that Webster University can further strengthen cooperation with UESTC in more fields in the future.
Director Liu Boaddressed a keynote speech themed as “embarking on a new journey from a new starting point to speed up the construction of international business management talent cultivation and build high-level service platform for alumni”. For this crucial year as the new start of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), he pointed out that more efforts will be made to further enhance the value of the iMBA program and to accelerate the construction of iMBA program for making a new high land of international MBA talents by relying on UESTC’s profound information technology advantages and deep integration of science, engineering, management and liberal arts. Meanwhile, iMBA program will still be committed to building high-level service platform for alumni by establishing professional alumni clubs as one of the important step, further integrating the resources from society, enterprises, UESTC, the School of Management and Economics and others to help alumni stand out in the fierce market.

The iMBA-2018 alumni Zhan Menglai, Chairman of Sichuan Wiscred Technology Co., Ltd., made a speech based on the theme of building emergency industry innovation platform and promoting the development of Chengdu-Chongqing modern emergency industry. Wang Shiping, iMBA-2019 alumni and General Manager of Shenzhen YTMF Capital Investment Management Co., Ltd., shared the theme of wealth management in great changes. Besides, Yang Shuyun, iMBA-2020 student and general manager assistant of Chengdu Coresat Technology Co., Ltd., delivered the speech of satellite internet under the new infrastructure.

They extended sincere wishes that the two clubs will further share resources, seek innovation and jointly promote development based on the large platform of UESTC and the Alumni Associations.
