Strides being made for Menstruators - because period care is essential.

Menstrual Care Company, JUNE, Champions for Menstrual Care

Los Angeles, CA – MAY 27, 2021 – From supply shortages to the pink tax, there are countless reasons why menstruators can have a hard time finding sustainable and affordable products that work well for them. JUNE, Los Angeles-based Menstrual Care company, is advocating for a global change in menstrual care and recognizing it as an essential item.

Inclusivity and sustainability have always been fundamental factors to JUNE’s mission. Providing the masses with cost-effective and environmentally friendly menstrual care alternatives is important to JUNE. With Menstrual Hygiene Day right around the corner on Friday, May 28, JUNE’s commemorating the holiday by offering $6 menstrual cup that would normally be marketed as a premium $29 feminine care product – a testament to JUNE’s devotion to accessibility, especially during the pandemic.

It’s been over a year since quarantine was first declared, and our communities have come a long way, especially in managing our anxiety and panic amidst COVID-19. It isn’t difficult to think back and remember the chaos that unfolded at the beginning, as with the mass panic-purchases of toilet paper. Packages of toilet paper weren’t the only things flying off the shelves, however, and although it didn’t get nearly as much media attention, menstruators were getting ready to deal with another shortage: period products.

This shortage led JUNE founders, Hedi and Manuel Rappard to take a stance: menstrual care is a human right, pandemic or otherwise. Since then, JUNE’s mission has been to provide sustainable and accessible period products, as well as to equip menstruators with knowledge of their periods. Ensuring that menstruators know about the materials and details of the products helps equip them to be able to make the healthiest decision for their bodies.

“When creating JUNE, we realized that major brands like Tampax, Kotex and Always have an incentive to design their products with maximized profit in mind, rather than meeting actual needs of the menstruator,” said Hedi Rappard, Founder of JUNE. “Because of that, we launched an initiative to break the cycle of misinformation and build a business founded on values of transparency, safety and accessibility.”

The barrier to quality menstrual care is nothing new. Menstrual cups have always been expensive. Menstrual care products in general have always been treated as luxury goods, and lots of products contain harmful toxins that lead to discomfort. JUNE is taking on the $40B feminine care industry, because menstrual care is not a commodity, it’s a human right.
