Neutralizing antibodies are antibodies that are produced when pathogenic microorganisms invade the body. When pathogenic microorganisms invade cells, they need to rely on the specific molecules expressed by the pathogen to bind to the receptors on the cells in order to infect the cells and further expand. Neutralizing antibodies are certain antibodies produced by B lymphocytes that can bind to antigens on the surface of pathogenic microorganisms, thereby preventing the pathogenic microorganisms from adhering to target cell receptors and preventing cell invasion.

Neutralizing antibody is a soluble protein secreted by adaptive immune response cells. After the virus invades the human body, the immune cells secrete the neutralizing protein into the blood, which combines with the virus particles in the blood to prevent the virus from infecting the cells and destroying the virus particles, thus “neutralizing” the virus.

Since neutralizing antibodies destroy the virus before it enters the cell, if there are antibodies in the body before exposure to the HIV virus, it can prevent HIV infection. Researchers hope to develop an HIV vaccine that can produce neutralizing antibodies. Existing vaccines, such as measles vaccine, polio vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, and hepatitis A vaccine, all enable the vaccinators to produce neutralizing antibodies to resist the virus.

Test Procedure:

Do not open the pouch until you are ready to perform a test, and the single.use test is suggested to be used under low environment humidity (RHs70%) within 1 hour.

1. Allow all kit components and specimens to reach room temperature between 18″c~26″c prior to testing.

2. Remove the test card from the foil pouch and place on a clean dry surface.

3. Identify the test card for each specimen.

4. Use dropper to deliver one drop (1) of serum, plasma or whole blood samples (40uL) into the sample well on the test card, followed by one drop of sample bufer.

5. Start the timer and read result in 15 minutes.
