Publicly Private Launches and Offers Support and Supplies to the LGBTQIA+ Community
KNOXVILLE, TN – Publicly Private is a nonprofit organization serving the LGBTQIA+ community in Knoxville, TN. Through the “private side” of its website, Publicly Private offers STD/STI testing and prevention kits, tools for practicing safe sex and virtual support groups to those in need.
Publicly Private provides a highly confidential avenue to assist LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout their life-long journey. The organization’s purpose is to move the world forward with inspiration, acceptance, and understanding by reaching under-served communities and individuals and giving strength and encouragement to ultimately shape change.
Publicly Private is a result of founder Kollyn Conrad’s personal journey of discovering and exploring his sexuality in Knoxville. Growing up as a gay man in the south amounted to isolating struggles. Publicly Private was founded after Conrad realized he could help LGBTQIA+ individuals in need.
Like many others in the LGBTQIA+ community, Conrad’s physical safety and mental health were challenged on his journey to live his truth. LGBTQIA+ awareness and resources could have filled the void if they were available to him. He is on a mission to bring this to a community that desperately needs it: a community whose pain and struggles need validation and support.
“Empathizing with the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community allowed us to build a virtual resource center,” said Conrad.
“Publicly Private needs contributions in order to expand resources across the Southern United States,” said Conrad. “Your contribution will help empower; it will grant LGBTQIA+ access to resources they desperately need.”
